| Small Animal Consultation Rooms |
At Tatura we have two fully operational consulting rooms. This is the first port of call in the clinic, where you will meet the vet who will be taking care of your pet. Here we can serve your pet’s everyday needs from vaccinations, advice on dental care, arthritis management and general health checks for the older pet or your puppy’s first vet check.
| Small Animal Surgery Rooms |
The operating room has two areas, one for sterile surgeries like routine
de-sexing and bone fracture fixation, and another area for non-sterile procedures like dentals and abscess drainage. By keeping these procedures separate we optimise the sterility of our surgeries. Post surgical infections are rarely a complication at Tatura Vet Clinic.
We have two anaesthetic machines, both which use isoflurane a very safe anaesthetic gas. All anaesthetics are constantly monitored by trained nurses, this means that your animals receive the best care we can provide.
| Kennels |
There are four outdoor runs equipped for the boisterous or larger dogs. The runs are locked during weekends and all animals are brought inside overnight. Inside we have eight cages for smaller dogs and cats. The kennel room is equipped with heating for the cooler months of the year. Nurses provide animals with fresh food and water, a clean cage and bedding daily.

| Stables |
The stable complex consists of 3 straw and 2 pine shaving boxes. Our pine shaving boxes are generally used for our surgical cases and for those horses that require Iv fluids. These stables can be completely closed in for our sick patients that require peace, quiet and privacy. Our straw boxes are large enough to accommodate mare and foals and if required we have a foal divider to separate for treatments whilst still allowing the mare access to the foal. All stables have feeders and automatic waters installed. Our stable complex is surrounded well by paddocks and yards that allow safe movement of horses around the clinic without risk. The complex also comprises of our state of the art surgery, office, crush, treatments areas and our Bovine facilities.
| Yards |
The yard complex comprises of 9 large brand new post and rail, diamond wire fences. All yards and paddocks are enclosed with electric fences for safety. Yards and paddocks have been fitted out with shade sails and trees for those that visit during summer months. Large to medium paddocks are used for long term visitors. All yards and paddock are cleaned daily to remove manure and our automatic water troughs are always clean and fresh.
| Examination / Reproduction crush |
Our crush facility provides a safe and comfortable work area for both horse and handler. Our crush sits under cover and is surrounded by our large treatment area. This facility can be completely enclosed if need be for safe scanning of mares, especially those with foals at foot. Rubber matting lines the concrete floor to prevent slipping and a “bird cage” keeps foal safe during reproductive scanning of mare or examination of foal. Mares are brought up for examination quietly and individually. Although generally used for reproductive scanning it also comes in handy for dentals, endoscope examinations, eye concerns and limb consultations. Even the boys don’t mind being lead into our crush.
| Cow Crush |
This outside crush is undercover, wind-protected and well lit perfect for standing surgeries especially for those middle of the night caesareans where lighting is limited on farm. The crush itself has split-level hinged side gates on both sides which allows for safer handling and better sterility for surgeries

| Equine Surgery Room |

Our Equine surgery facilities consist of a knockdown/recovery padded room, sterile surgery and drugs dispensary and office.
Our knock down/recovery room is fitted with padded walls and floor and has been recently been re renovated with new and exciting state of the art designs in Equine safety. Our swing door allows safe induction for both horse and handler. Each end of the room opens up for transportation of horse into the room safely and into the surgery via crane.
Our sterile surgery is large and accommodating for any surgery required, whether you have a Shetland or a Clydesdale. We have been lucky enough to have many specialised surgeons visit us and all comment on our facilities. Our state of the art Equine surgery table is completely mechanical for optimum safety for your horse whilst under anaesthetic. Our equipment comprises of an Anaesthetic machine, Fluid pumps, Endoscope, Scanners, Arthroscopy and much more.
At Tatura Veterinary Clinic we are fortunate enough to also be able to provide our customers with the services of Dr Alastair MacLean, a referral Equine surgeon form Melbourne University.
